Console gamers are finally getting dedicated servers after all these years.

Following the successful PC launch of For Honor's dedicated servers on February 19, 2018, Ubisoft just announced that console players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be able to play on them starting March 6. The transition will be completed following a maintenance period at 9 AM EST on the same day.

The introduction of dedicated servers to For Honor should improve matchmaking and overall online stability to offer a better and smoother experience. According to the publisher, the recent implementation for PC players saw several improvements to the online experience.

Dedicated servers were announced last summer but it's taken Ubisoft this long to implement them. There was a successful test in December 2017 but we haven't heard much since then. At launch, the dedicated servers will focus on competitive multiplayer game modes. The company claims that this should address many of the complaints players have with For Honor.

For Honor was developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other studios. The game is a third-person brawler which features a campaign and various multiplayer modes. Players play as a member of three factions – the Knights, the Vikings, or the Samurai – fighting to the death on intense melee battlefields. For Honor's combat system requires skill because you must carefully balance striking with defending.

If you haven't played the game, be sure to check it as it also features Xbox One X support.
