Dead Cells is an incredibly popular PC game and it's finally making its way to consoles this year.
According to developer Motion Twin, Dead Cells is coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 in 2018. The developer didn't provide a concrete release date but emphasized that the console versions were coming along nicely. The game is somewhat of a sensation on PC because it passed 600,000 sales on Steam Early Access alone, which could translate to success on consoles as well.
Not only does Dead Cells feature gorgeous pixelated visuals, but it's also a joy to play on Steam. The PC version features tight controls so hopefully, they'll translate well when making the jump to Xbox One. In a statement, Motion Twin Producer Steve Fliby said the following about the console release.
We're thrilled to finally confirm that we'll be bringing the Dead Cells experience to console players. We're proud of what we've done with the help of the PC community and can't wait to see how the gaming community at large react. We'll be at Pax East next April, so come say hi! You might even get a sneak peek at the game on the console.
Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, Metroidvania-like action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle assuming you're able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. It's rather hardcore as there are no checkpoints. The objective is to kill, die a lot, learn from your mistakes, and repeat until you've conquered everything.
