Elite: Dangerous will let you take full advantage of the pixels on your 4K screen on Xbox One X.
Xbox One X is nearly here, and a number of developers have already announced exactly how their games will support the new console. The latest to do so is Frontier, whose space exploration game Elite: Dangerous will support native 4K output on Microsoft's latest console.
However, as we've seen with other titles, including Rise of the Tomb Raider, players won't be limited to 4K here. Instead, Frontier is giving Xbox One X gamers the option to decide how they want to take advantage of the console's extra power by choosing between "Performance" and "Quality" modes, as well as 1080p and 4K.
According to Frontier, the two options operate independently from one another. For the highest framerate, Frontier recommends going with the "Performance" mode at 1080p. If you're more concerned with looks, you can max things out with the "Quality" setting and 4K resolution options. This will give you a full 4K image with the highest quality assets, but at the cost of framerate.
Xbox One X is set to launch tomorrow, November 7, and the Elite: Dangerous patch is already live and ready to go.
Elite: Dangerous is available now starting at $29.99.
