Dark Souls-like The Surge is set in a dystopian future as Earth nears the end.

Those who remain in cities head out to the suburbs seeking jobs. In order to increase their productivity, exoskeletons are fused onto their bodies. This is where the problems begin for the main character, Warren. Unlike other such experiences, The Surge focuses on targeting particular body parts on enemies. If you're able to chop them off, you can use them.

A few days ago Deck13 Interactive and Focus Home Interactive announced an expansion to The Surge called A Walk in the Park. However, the pressing news Xbox One owners wanted to know was how the game would be upgraded for the upcoming Xbox One X. Luckily, we got a concrete answer today on how the title runs on Xbox One X when compared to PlayStation 4 Pro.

Both upgraded consoles feature a 1080p 60 FPS mode but that's the only similarity. If you choose the high-resolution setting, then The Surge runs at 1620p 30 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro and 1800p 30 FPS on Xbox One X. This information was revealed in and interview between WCCFtech and developers Deck13 Interactive.

Many gamers interested in the Xbox One X feared that game makers wouldn't take the time to properly utilize the additional power of the Xbox One X for existing projects, so it's great to see Deck13 make use of the X's horsepower. The Surge joins a list of growing games like Titanfall 2 and World of Tanks which feature a significant resolution advantage on Xbox One X when compared to competing consoles. Hopefully this list will continue to grow in the coming months.

If you haven't played The Surge, be sure to check it out at retailers. Additionally, you should read our Xbox One X review which went up today. The console launches on November 7, 2017 so be sure to get your preorders in if you're interested in the product.
