The Game Awards 2014

The Game Awards 2014 is a new live event to help celebrate the past year in video and PC gaming, and Microsoft has just announced a special ticket offer for Xbox fans to help them attend the ceremonies from Las Vegas on December 5.

Officially, tickets don't go on sale until Tuesday, but Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has posted up a link to the Ticketmaster website, where people can buy their tickets right now for $45 (that includes service fees) if they type in the code "JAMESONLOCKE" as their presale password.

The Game Awards 2014 is the brainchild of Geoff Keighley, who used to host the Spike cable TV network's Video Game Awards. This new venture will not only give out awards to the best games of the past year but it will also serve as a way for publishers and developers to officially announce a number of upcoming games.

Microsoft is one of the many video game publishers that will support The Game Awards 2014, and Xbox leader Phil Spencer is on the event's advisory board. Microsoft will offer a livestream of the awards on Xbox Live for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners.

What games do you think deserve some recognition from The Game Awards 2014?
