Electronic Arts is apparently very happy with the initial response of EA Access, its game subscription service that's currently an exclusive on the Xbox One console. In an conference call with investors this week, EA's CEO Andrew Wilson said that EA Access is growing "well beyond early expectations".
While Wilson did not give specific subscriber numbers, his words would seem to vindicate Microsoft's decision to support EA Access on the Xbox One. It launched in July and offers subscribers access to several full EA games like FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2 for $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with more games to be added in the future. It also offers 10 percent discounts on Xbox One EA digital game purchases and access to exclusive free trials of some games before they are released.
Just after EA Access was announced, Microsoft's biggest rival in the console space, Sony, claimed that Electronic Arts' service did not offer "good value to the PlayStation gamer." Now that EA Access has been available for a few months, do you believe it is a plus for Xbox One owners?
