Space Squids is a endless battle game for your Windows Phone that has a retro feel that reminds me of the old Atari console games or maybe something from a Commodore 64 system.
You pilot a space ship through endless waves of enemy ships and bosses. It's a simple game that doesn't lack challenge and an update was released today taking the game to version 3.0.
The game has actually been updated several times since we last touched on Space Squids with today's update delivering a new gaming engine (Unity) to Space Squids.
Along with the version 3.0 update, we need to mention a few previous updates to Space Squids. The developers have kept busy improving the game and since we last visited the game they have added new enemy ships, new bosses, support for 16:9 screens, support for 720p and 1080p resolutions and an in-app purchase to customize your ship. You also have a new set of controls that helps with the playability of the game.
The ship customization includes eleven spaceships that include Flappy Bird, a squid, the Millennium Falcon and more. The only downside to these bonus ships is they are in color and stand out a little on the green/black retro screen.
Space Squids is a fun time waster of a game and the updates have only helped with the games appeal. With a 4.5 star rating in the Windows Phone Store, it would appear that many Windows Phone gamers agree.
