EA job listing points to an open-world Star Wars game

There may be another open-world Star Wars game on the horizon.

With the closure of Visceral Games many months ago, EA effectively doused the hopes for an open-world Star Wars game, a title industry veterans like Uncharted's Amy Hennig were working on. However, it seems like the publisher isn't done with the concept just yet.

Recently, a new listing was spotted on EA Vancouver's jobs page asking for lead online engineer applicants. If hired, the individual would "lead a team to deliver online features for a Star Wars open-world project" and "ensure designs will maintain high-traffic services for multi-platform games". The job listing points to a new online, open-world Star Wars game along the lines of titles like Destiny and Sea of Thieves.

When Visceral Games closed, EA's Patrick Söderlund said that the company was moving the open-world Star Wars game to EA Vancouver. In an effort to keep players coming back for more, an online approach would be adopted. This listing confirms the statement he made back then.

Hopefully the company will reveal more about the project at E3 2018 or at another one of its events. However, if you want your Star Wars fix in the meantime, be sure to check out Star Wars Battlefront II on Xbox One and PC. The publisher recently converted all of the pay-to-win microtransactions to cosmetics and the game is better for it.
