State of Decay 2 won't feature microtransactions at launch.
Undead Labs recently hosted a livestream for State of Decay 2 in which the team discussed the low price point and microtransactions. According to the studio, even though the game starts at around $30, there are no plans for microtransactions at the moment. However, there might be certain expansions down the line just like the original game.
Despite the fact that there are no plans to add microtransactions at the moment, they might be added in the future to sustain development. The practice is commonplace in the gaming industry nowadays. As a game matures, plans change.
State of Decay 2 should launch on May 22, 2018 for Xbox One and Windows 10 as an Xbox Play Anywhere experience. According to Microsoft, the game will also be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass. The company confirmed a price point of $29.99 for the standard version and $49.99 for the Ultimate Edition.
State of Decay 2 is a co-op multiplayer game which forces you to survive in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. Players have to work together, build bases, and form communities if they wish to survive in this hostile land. The first game — despite the fact that it suffered from numerous performance issues — garnered a significant following. Hopefully the game will be a polished experience when it launches in a few months.
