There's a lot more Final Fantasy XV content on the horizon.
According to game director Hajime Tabata, Final Fantasy XV is getting more expansions soon. Moreover, the expansions might not wrap up until 2019 because the studio wants to put even more care into this content.
Recently, Dengeki Online sat down with a few members from the Final Fantasy XV development team to discuss the future of the game. During this interview it was revealed that the title would receive four more "episodes" over the course of the next year or so. Tabata said, "After thinking with the team about with what kind of content we want to finish this game with, we decided to make it four new episodes."
The first episode is all about fan-favorite Ardyn. Chancellor Ardyn Izunia is the main antagonist of Final Fantasy XV, and also appears in tie-in content like the feature film. After this, there might be an episode starring Lunafreya Nox Fleuret. Luna is the main heroine in Final Fantasy XV, and also appears in the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV film.
Hopefully the expansions will live up to expectations and the wait won't be too long. However, given the legacy of a franchise like Final Fantasy, the studio should spend enough time to get it right.
On a side note, a Half-Life pack was also announced for Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition. You can play as the infamous Gordon Freeman and use the crowbar as a weapon during combat. While the changes are simply cosmetic, it's probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing Freeman rendered in a modern game engine.
If you haven't played Final Fantasy XV yet, the game features captivating characters, stunning visuals, open-world exploration, and real-time combat. Be sure to check it out at retailers if you like Japanese role-playing games.
