Gamers will be able to hunt each other in a post-apocalyptic Canada once more before launch.

Battle royale titles are becoming increasingly popular and with the success of games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the genre is thriving. One such game which was announced during Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference was Darwin Project.

Darwin Project takes place in a post-apocalyptic environment in Canada. As civilization prepares for an upcoming ice age, a twisted new project emerges, half science experiment and half entertainment. It's called Darwin Project and it challenges participants to survive the cold and fight to the death in a treacherous arena. According to the developer, the game offers a competitive multiplayer third-person experience with an emphasis on survival. There's a strong emphasis on crafting and setting traps. However it goes deeper then that. Aside from surviving the cold, you have to track opponents and even negotiate temporary alliances to be the last one standing when the sun goes up.

Another Darwin Project open beta is coming this weekend. January's test saw over 80,000 people join the game's first such event. The open beta begins on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 3 PM EST and ends on Monday, February 26 at 12 PM EST.

Open beta participants can look forward to trying out Spectator Interactions on Twitch, which were previously only available on Mixer. This new version also allows players to host Private Matches to settle any grudge matches. There are many new features in there too.

Darwin Project is slated to launch on Xbox One and PC in Spring 2018.
