Dedicated PC servers are almost here, but console players will have to wait a little longer.
Today, Ubisoft announced that dedicated servers are coming For Honor PC players on February 19, 2018. The servers will roll out to consoles soon after their launch on PC, but an exact date wasn't announced. According to the publisher, dedicated servers are being introduced as part of For Honor's fifth season, called Age of Wolves.
Dedicated servers were announced last summer but it's taken Ubisoft this long to implement them. There was a successful test in December 2017 but we haven't heard much since then. At launch, the dedicated servers will focus on competitive multiplayer game modes. The company claims that this should result in a more stable experience and improved matchmaking.
For Honor's Game Director, Damien Kieken, said the following alongside the news of the dedicated servers.
Changing the online infrastructure while the game was live was a challenge, but a decisive step in improving the game experience of our players. The implementation of the dedicated servers gives us confidence in the direction the game is taking and will pave the way for a full year of continued support and new contents.
For Honor was developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other studios. The game is a third-person brawler which features a campaign and various multiplayer modes. Players play as a member of three factions – the Knights, the Vikings, or the Samurai – fighting to the death on intense melee battlefields. For Honor's combat system requires skill because you must carefully balance striking with defending.
If you haven't played the game, be sure to check it as it also features Xbox One X support.
