After many delays, it looks like the dark role-playing adventure has a new release date.

Today, Dontnod Entertainment released a new developer diary for the upcoming dark role-playing game (RPG) Vampyr. While the video mostly revealed more exclusive gameplay footage, there was also a release date mentioned at the end. Barring any delays, Vampyr should come to Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 on June 5, 2018.

The developer diary explains what makes games unique compared to other forms of entertainment. Dontnod's Life Is Strange and Remember Me are regarded by critics and gamers alike as having strong stories. Narrative Director Stéphane Beauverger added that exploration, investigations, citizen encounters, combat, and hard-hitting choices are all tied to the game's narrative. The relationship between a player and their character, as well as the direct feeling of control, is unique to games and that is a feeling the team hopes to amplify in Vampyr.

The title is set in Britain during the lethal 1918 Spanish flu which devastated Europe. In a completely disorganized and ghostly city, those who are unlucky enough to walk the streets at night become prey to vampires. You step into the shoes of a doctor who has recently turned into a vampire. The game is as much about staying alive by hunting as it is about understanding your new affliction. It's definitely a new take on the genre because your ultimate goal appears to be stopping the irrepressible thirst that constantly drives you to kill.
