Beware, cheaters: PUBG is on to you.
Those who continue to utilize external tools, exploits, and other means to get ahead of everyone else in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) will have a harder time after this latest patch goes live for PC. The developer is looking at ways to make the game fair for everyone and cheating goes against this approach, which is why a new anti-cheat system is about to go live on February 8. The test build has already gone up should you wish to take advantage of it right now.
While the latest PC update is currently rolling out to the test environment, the developer expects to have it in working shape for the live servers in a matter of hours. It's expected to be released to everyone on February 8 at 3 a.m. EST (8 a.m. GMT). Maintenance is expected to be around three hours, so be sure to make a beverage while the patch is applied. As well as the new anti-cheat measures, here's what else is included in the update:
- Fixed the issue where the sound of explosions would become too loud when played simultaneously.
- Balanced the number of simultaneous explosion sounds, in order to optimize game performance.
- Fixed the issue where the explosion sound wouldn't play following the falling sound of a bomb.
