The Tomb Kings have risen and they seek vengeance.
Total War: Warhammer II is arguably one of the best games in the series, and its maker, Creative Assembly, did a good job with the addition of more post-release content, the latest being Rise of the Tomb Kings. With the added benefit of combining both this game and its sequel in a grand campaign, it's possible to play as (or against) this exceptional new faction with a comprehensive roster of units.
The Tomb Kings were a human empire called Nehekhara, destroyed by the necromancer Nagash. The Tomb Kings now seek to reclaim their lost glory, rebuild their vast empire, take vengeance on Nagash, and destroy anyone and anything that gets in their way. As a player, you're tasked with fending off or utilizing an army of skeletal warriors with a few massive towers of animated bone thrown in for good measure.
Details on the latest DLC
The DLC itself contains four playable legendary lords: Settra the Imperishable, High Queen Khalida, Grand Hierophant, and Arkhan the Black. Ultimate victory is achieved by collecting cursed books of Nagash and winning the battle for the Black Pyramid, and mysteries can be unlocked by researching the Nehekharan Dynasties. It's refreshing to see a new faction that really offers something new.
Rise of the Tomb Kings switches up how you play.
There are a few unique features of the function, including the Realm of Souls, which allows for a bar to fill up as an army takes damage and eventually unlocks a mass heal in battle. There's also no requirement for gold and coin; instead, the Tomb Kings are only restricted by unit limits. Creative Assembly clearly spent a lot of time with this DLC, and it shows.
Total War: Warhammer II review
Rise of the Tomb Kings is a brilliant DLC priced around $17, adding a bunch of new content and an awesome new faction. Who doesn't want to roleplay as Arkhan the Black and wipe out everything in their path? There's a freaking skeleton giant that shoots lasers out of his retinas!
Rise of the Tomb Kings can be purchased today, as long as you have Total War: Warhammer II. And if you do, I highly recommend it.
