The long-awaited role-playing adventure, Monster Hunter: World, is almost here and Capcom keeps the excitement alive by showcasing tantalizing gameplay videos every week.

Today, the developer put out a short walkthrough of the grotesque and toxic Rotten Vale. Due to the extreme nature of the environment, the region is a breeding ground for resilient monsters. Being exposed to death and decay not only makes these creatures incredibly tough, but they also have a few unique tricks up their sleeves. You'll have to use the most powerful weapons you can make to defeat them.

One of the main features of this area is that the monsters utilize their environment more so than the ones found in other places. For example, a giant lizard-like animal coats its body with tar and then rolls around in the bones of dead creatures to gain bone armor. You'll have to get through that first to do some serious damage to the softer hide underneath. However, that's just one of the many challenges the Rotten Vale presents. Patience is the key to success in this area.

The main objective in Monster Hunter: World is to simply battle gigantic monsters in epic locales. As a hunter, you'll take on quests to kill increasing difficult beasts in their exotic habitats. Gamers who take down these monsters will receive numerous materials that can be used to create stronger weapons and armor in order to hunt down even more dangerous monsters.

The premise behind Monster Hunter: World might be simple, but it tells a rather complex story. Once every decade, monsters known Elder Dragons trek across the water to travel to the region known as the New World. This migration event is referred to as the Elder Crossing. To get to the bottom of this mysterious pattern, the Guild has formed the Research Commission, dispatching them in large groups to the New World. The Guild is the main governing body in the Monster Hunter universe. They work alongside the Elder Dragon Observation to monitor and research particular species of interest.

The player is part of the Fifth Fleet in pursuit of a colossal Elder Dragon known as Zorah Magdaros. This is where the journey begins because the truth behind the Elder Crossing is more unexpected than initially thought.

Monster Hunter: World launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on January 26, 2018. A PC version is scheduled for Fall 2018. The Monster Hunter franchise started off on the PlayStation 2 in 2004 but then became a Nintendo exclusive for many years. Games like Monster Hunter Tri, Monster Hunter 4, and even Monster Hunter Generations were only available on systems like the Nintendo Wii or 3DS.

Monster Hunter is regarded as a legendary franchise so here's hoping that Monster Hunter: World lives up to expectations. The game features Xbox One X support so it looks better than ever on Microsoft's new console. Be sure to keep an eye out for our review towards the end of this month. If you can't wait for that, be sure to preorder the game at your favorite retailer today.
