PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds just left Early Access on PC and recently launched on Xbox Game Preview.
The game has been breaking records ever since it came out and even managed to pass a million players in the first 48 hours on Xbox One. We know that the game has sold over 20 million copies on PC but we didn't have any idea what the total player count across all platforms was. Luckily, the developer issued the following statement to the press detailing the success of the game.
2017 has been a phenomenal year for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. With over 30 million players globally across PC platforms and the Xbox Game Preview program, we owe the success we've experienced this year to the community, whose passion has inspired all of us here at PUBG Corp. to make the very best game we can. We'll continue to fine tune the Battle Royale experience and will introduce additional in-game content, including new crates, to become available in early 2018.
It's great to see the game doing so well. Even though PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds needs a lot of work on both platforms, the title is still the best battle royale experience out there. Hopefully PUBG Corp. will introduce more patches soon so that it irons out the performance issues at least.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with the help of community feedback. Starting with absolutely nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the only one alive. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a surprisingly realistic and high-tension title set on a massive island. Be sure to check out the game if you like competitive multiplayer experiences.
