Microsoft has announced a new partnership between 343 Industries and Major League Gaming (MLG) for the 2018 Halo Championship series.

The Halo World Championship 2018 starts on January 13, 2018, on MLG's Gamebattles platform. The first main event of the championship will take place in Orlando from February 16 to February 18. According to Microsoft, Halo's deep history in competitive gaming is tied to MLG. Before eSports became a popular phenomenon, Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the top titles of the then start-up MLG. As Halo grew, so did MLG.

For most of 2017, the Halo World Championship team at 343 Industries made some fundamental changes to the way they organize the event. 343 Industries' eSports lead Elizabeth Van Wyck said, "MLG is one of the world's premier eSports organizations, and we're thrilled to partner with them to take the Halo Championship Series to the next level with unforgettable live-events and unrivaled community-building experiences."

Adam Apicella, MLG's Vice President of League Event Operations, issued the following statement to the press on the partnership.

We're excited about the opportunity to reconnect with Halo eSports fans around the world and deliver a truly memorable Halo Championship Series in 2018. Working with Microsoft and 343 Industries again is the perfect way to begin an incredible year, and we look forward to celebrating Halo's top players and showcasing their talents to the community.

It's great to see Microsoft partnering with MLG to make the Halo World Championship even better. Hopefully this time around it'll be better put together than before.
