Gearsmas is here once more, and it brings holiday treats galore.
For the second year in a row, Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition is kicking off a holiday-themed in-game event. Called Gearsmas, the event brings a slew of customizable skins suitable for the occasion, along with new game modes, and more.
In terms of cosmetic additions, Gearsmas 2017 will serve up another exclusive holiday gear pack filled with sweater-sporting characters, gingerbread guns, and more. Here's a look at what's included in the holiday gear pack, which will be available for 400 credits from December 15 through January 2:
- Gearsmas Sweater Imago
- Gearsmas Sweater Dizzy
- Festive Tree DR1
- Gearsmas (Animated)
- Gingerbread
- Knit
- Gearsmas Sweater emblem
In addition to the cosmetic items included in the holiday gear pack, Gearsmas will also serve up the first "Horde Madness" event for Horde mode. Called Jingle Juvies, the Horde variant will task players with taking out 25 waves of juvies sporting a set of – what else? – antlers. The mode also features fortifications with "vastly reduced health" and boss waves will be bolstered by a random set of tougher enemies.
Snowball Fight is also back for 2017 as a special variant of Team Death Match. Players are equipped with a "Snowshot" gun (a Boomshot that fires snowballs) as they seek to take out the other team.
Both holiday game modes feature a weapon skin rewards for achieving certain goals. Snowball Fight, for example, will reward you with a Flaming Boomshot if you win 5 matches, or a Flaming Dropshot for getting 100 kills. Meanwhile, Jingle Juvies will reward players who complete 25 consecutive waves with a Midnight Omen Retro Lancer. Those who can endure 25 consecutive waves without any fails will also get a Midnight Omen Lancer.
Once again, Gearsmas looks like it'll be a pretty good time for heavy Gears of War 4 players. The event kicks off on December 15 and is set to run through January 2.
