Metro Exodus has received a new gameplay trailer, paired with a confirmation of its fall 2018 release.
Earlier this year 4A Games unveiled the next entry to its Metro franchise, with a surprise trailer for Metro Exodus. While its fall 2018 debut is some time off, the game has received a new trailer as a part of The Game Awards 2017, providing a better look at its world through new in-engine footage.
While the new trailer doesn't unveil any hugely ground-breaking concepts for Metro Exodus, it provides a better feel for the tone of the game and the events that occur. In contrast to previous Metro games, Exodus does seem to offer a much brighter palette, though still maintains the feel of its post-apocalyptic world.
Continuing on from 2013's Metro: Last Light, the game follows Artyom and the rest of the Spartan Rangers as they leave Moscow via train in search of a better home. This allows for a more open, fresh take on the Metro formula, with a heavier focus on adventures above the surface.
Metro Exodus is set to release in fall of 2018, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game will leverage the power of Microsoft's flagship Xbox One X console – outputting at 4K resolution, 60 frames per second (FPS) and with support for High Dynamic Range (HDR). The game will also be receiving a Windows 10 release via the Windows Store, although "Play Anywhere" support is yet to be specified.
