Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider are great games but like many others, suffer from muddy visuals on Xbox One.
The games are noticeably blurrier than their PlayStation 4 counterparts even to this day. Playing the titles on the standard console is a little jarring because the image quality is quite poor. Xbox One players have been eagerly awaiting details on the Xbox One X versions and the upgrades they would bring to the table. Today, Microsoft posted a new trailer on the Xbox YouTube channel detailing the changes.
According to the trailer, the updates add 4K resolution, 4K textures, improved geometry, improved draw distances, higher quality shadows, improved anti-aliasing, and more stable frame rates. It's unclear if the visuals run at native 4K or adopt a checkerboarded approach like many PlayStation 4 Pro titles.
We've played both Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider on Xbox One X and can say that they look incredibly clear and detailed. Those who upgrade to Microsoft's newest console should immediately notice the upgrades especially when observing the 4K textures.
Dishonored 2 can be played from two perspectives. You can choose to experience the game as Empress Emily Kaldwin or Royal Protector Corvo Attano. Will you make your way through the game unseen or fully use its brutal combat system? The choice is yours. Players must get Empress Kaldwin's throne back from an usurper by any means necessary.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider puts you in the shoes of Billie Lurk, once one of Dunwall's most notorious killers-for-hire. Reunited with her old mentor, the legendary assassin Daud, she undertakes the greatest assassination ever conceived: killing the Outsider, a god-like figure whom Billie and Daud see as instrumental to some of the Empire's most disgraceful moments.
