Cities: Skylines is a city building simulator which offers a surprising amount of depth. While the game contains a lot of different climates, proper snow which affected the city in unique ways wasn't part of the package until now.
Luckily that concern has been addressed because the Snowfall expansion went on sale for the Xbox One this morning. Alongside the launch, Paradox Interactive reveal a delightful and lyrical launch trailer. It should get you in the mood for the holidays at the very least. According to the developers, the Snowfall expansion adds a flurry of weather-themed gameplay features to the title, many of which are on display in this lovely little snow-filled romp.
Cities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulator. The game introduces new gameplay elements to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city whilst expanding on some well-established tropes of the city building experience. We've extensively played the title and believe that this game surpasses even the earlier Sim City games.
In our review we wrote, "Few modern city-building games approach Skylines in terms of quality and depth, and it's awesome to see a smaller developer step in and prove that there's still an audience for this type of game, even if the big players weren't willing to provide it." EA might be too caught up in nickel-and-diming consumers but at least the genre lives on in more capable hands.
