The first entry in Creative Assembley's new Total War Saga will take players to the British Isles.
Thrones of Britannia will be the first entry in SEGA and Creative Assembly's spinoff series, called Total War Saga. Taking place in 878AD, Thrones of Britannia will put players in Britain just after the invasion of the Vikings. Though the Norse warlords have established themselves, the kings of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales "have aspirations of their own," SEGA says.
"Our aim with Total War Sagas is to explore key flashpoints at distinct places and times in history", said Series Director, Mike Simpson. "Unlike our era-spanning titles, we're putting defined geographical areas under the microscope, building super-detailed campaign maps with a strong cultural focus and flavour that players can dive into. This will complement our broader-scope titles perfectly".
Thrones of Britannia will feature the same tactical, turn-based strategy gameplay that the Total War series is known for. Preorders aren't yet open, but the spinoff is due out for PC in 2018, and will be available on Steam. You can find more information about Total War: Thrones of Britannia at the Total War blog.
