The Xbox One X has been out for a few days now and while many gamers are loving their new console, it seems that those using its 4K Blu-ray player are at a major disadvantage.
The Xbox One X launched on November 7, 2017 and is the most powerful console ever made. The device features six teraflops (TF) of processing power and 12 GB of GDDR5 RAM. In addition to that, the Xbox One X also contains a 4K Blu-ray player and offers a faster hard drive.
While games look great on the machine, videos don't. According to a report by Forbes, the problem is the raised black levels when playing high dynamic range (HDR) videos. Nighttime scenes look much brighter than they should because of this. We were able to test this out and noticed the same problem. The sky in many scenes was noticeably brighter and almost looked grey.
Xbox One X users - Blu-Ray specific fixes coming very soon to correct raised black levels w/HDR movies, etc. Few days away. #Xbox

It appears that Microsoft is aware of the issue and Corporate Vice President of Xbox and Windows Gaming Mika Ybarra promised a fix. In a statement made on Twitter, Ybarra said that a patch to correct the raised black levels for HDR content was a few days away. It's great that the company knows about the problem and is working towards resolving it. Hopefully it'll fix the issue completely instead of being only a step in the right direction.
