Ever since Destiny 2 was revealed, Bungie has been coy about the enhancements Xbox One X would receive.

For the longest time gamers didn't even know if the title would be upgraded in the first place. Luckily, we received a definitive answer today. The Xbox One X version should reign supreme if Bungie's recent statement holds true. In a post on their website, the developers said the following.

On December 5, along with the launch of Curse of Osiris and Season Two, we'll be deploying an update to Destiny 2 that will deliver stunning gameplay with high dynamic range (HDR) lighting to these new consoles. You'll also see adaptive 4K resolution on the PlayStation 4 Pro and 4K on the Xbox One X.

This means that instead of a fluctuating resolution, the Xbox One X version should maintain 4K throughout. It's unclear if the Xbox One X version is also checkerboarded like the PlayStation 4 Pro version. It's great to see Bungie taking advantage of the 1.8 TFLOPS power difference the Xbox One X has over the PlayStation 4 Pro.

There were some concerns that due to their marketing agreement with Sony this wouldn't be the case. Many thought the game would run the same, utilizing similar dynamic checkerboarding methods. As always, keep in mind that last-minute changes regularly occur during game development.

If you haven't played Destiny 2, be sure to check it out at retailers. It's a great game and a lot of fun if you have the right team.
