Even though the Xbox One X features 6 TFLOPS of power and 12 GB of RAM, titles that run at native 4K 60 FPS are rare.

Currently, the only high-profile game that runs at that resolution and frame rate is Forza Motorsport 7. However, it looks like Outlast 2 will be joining it rather soon according to Red Barrels, the makers of the title. In an interview between WCCFtech and Red Barrels co-founder and Senior Game Designer Philippe Morin, this information was revealed.

When specifically asked about what resolution Outlast 2 ran at on Xbox One X, Morin replied, "Outlast 2 will support native 4K and run at 60 FPS on the Xbox One X, but it won't support HDR and Dolby Atmos. The process was pretty straightforward for our programmer. The patch is already live, by the way!" Just for comparison purposes, the PlayStation 4 Pro version runs at 1440p 60 FPS. It's great to see developers taking advantage of the additional power on the Xbox One X.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Outlast is a horror series which focuses on stealth and evasion. Outlast 2 introduces you to Sullivan Knoth and his followers, who left the world behind to give birth to Temple Gate, a town hidden from civilization. You play as Blake Langermann, a cameraman working with his wife, Lynn. You're following a trail of clues that started with the impossible murder of a pregnant woman. The investigation leads you miles into the Arizona desert where your helicopter crashes and the adventure begins. The game is quite disturbing and focuses on a lot of mature themes so be sure you're comfortable with that before you purchase the game.
