XCOM 2 is the sequel to the award-winning XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It expands upon the gameplay of the original but with a new twist.
Earth has changed and is now under alien rule (Yes, this means that you basically failed in the first game.) Facing impossible odds, you must rebuild the XCOM division and ignite a global resistance to reclaim the planet and save humanity. However, this time around the aliens are more challenging and dangerous than ever.
Sound interesting? If want to try out the game, you're in luck – starting this weekend, all Xbox Live Gold subscribers can play XCOM 2 free as part of Xbox Live Gold's Free Play Days. As detailed in a post to Xbox Wire, the trial begins at 12:00 PM ET on Thursday, October 26, 2017 and ends at 2:59 PM ET on Sunday, October 29.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, XCOM 2 is a turn-based strategy game, where you fight foes by moving your squad and shooting when the time is right. The mechanics are mostly based on strategic positioning and probability, so you have to place your fighters in optimum positions for the clearest shots. Throughout the game, you'll also have to upgrade your characters and base, alongside researching new technologies.
XCOM 2 is one of the deepest turn-based games on the market and making sure that your favorite fighters survive will become a top priority.
