After enduring a slow drip of teasers and buildup, our first official look at Destiny 2 is here. Bungie has released the first of what will likely be several trailers for the game, which stokes the hype with a set of rallying speeches fit for any epic adventure. Check it out below:

It's not a look at the game itself, but the trailer definitely serves as a nice introduction to the game's story. Speaking of which, here's a short primer from Bungie on where things stand on the outset of Destiny 2:

Humanity's last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force led by Ghaul, commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city's Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity's scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.

Perhaps some of the biggest news to come out of today's reveal is that Destiny 2 will be coming to PC in addition to consoles. The first Destiny was released in 2014 on consoles only, but players begged for a PC release throughout its lifetime. Now it looks like fans are getting their wish. Bungie has also confirmed a September 8 release date, which was only previously rumored based on some leaked posters.

Destiny 2 will even the playing field for old players and new. Bungie has confirmed that, while you'll be able to carry your character's looks over from the first installment, you're progression and gear won't make the move.

If you're eager to dive into the game on day one, Destiny 2 is up for pre-order now at the Xbox Store and the usual batch of retailers. And for anyone looking for more gameplay footage, Bungie says it will show off the first look at hands-on gameplay with a livestream on May 18.
