Gears of War 4 is in for its second major update since launch, with lots of new content on the way. As detailed on Xbox Wire, the next update to Gears of War 4 will land on December 6, and it will pack two new maps, a daily rewards system, and even vertical split-screen on Windows 10.

The slow march of new multiplayer maps continues with Speyer and Glory. In Speyer, you'll do battle through a the interior and plazas of an academy in close-quarters combat. Meanwhile, Glory is a massive fortress battleground that packs a turret that can be turned on a courtyard below. Season Pass holders will get early access to the maps before they open to everyone in public playlists on December 13. You can see a flythrough of both maps in the embedded videos above.

Aside from the two new maps, the December 6 update will also bring the following new features and improvements:

  • A Daily Rewards system
  • Improved visual feedback for damage dealt with the Gnasher
  • Vertical Split-Screen for Windows 10 players
  • Improvements to footstep audio balance, audio/video settings

Lastly, The Coalition detailed some other improvements that are in the works, like a pre-game lobby for Core and Competitive, in addition to some tools meant to curb or prevent players from quitting multiplayer matches.

If you haven't had a chance to give Gears of War 4 a shot yet, now's a good time to get started. You can currently grab the game at a 33% discount, which is set to last through December 28.
