How to create a new world in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta
- Launch Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
- Click Play.
Click Create New World.
- Click Advanced.
Click the Name field.
- Type a name for your new world.
Click Done.
Click a World Type.
Old: Creates a finite world (256x256 blocks) that works much better on old or low-performance PCs. There is no Nether in this world type.
Infinite: Creates the standard Minecraft world that goes on forever. Everything you love about Minecraft, including the Nether, can be found here.
Flat: Creates a completely flat world, perfect for creative type games when you just want to build enormous structures without competing with natural landscape.
Click a Game Mode.
Survival: Creates a world where you must gather food and mine for resources. Don't forget to watch your back! The full list of enemies is waiting to ruin your day.
Creative: Creates a world where you have all resources at your disposal. Double-jumping enables a flying mode that helps with building enormous structures, and enemies will leave you alone.
- Click the Seed field.
Type a seed or leave it blank to create a random world. Seeds can be found online or you can type a random series of numbers or letters. Try typing your name and seeing what world is created!
- Click Done.
Click Create World!.
How to convert an Old world to an Infinite world
If you created an Old world in, say, Minecraft: Pocket Edition or on a low-end PC, but then want to convert it to an Infinite world to reap the benefits of a larger play area, follow these steps:
- Launch Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
Click Play.
- Click the Edit button next to the Old world you want to convert. The button looks like a pencil writing two lines.
Click Make Infinite!
You will now have a copy of the Old world that has been converted to an Infinite world. The original Old world will also still be there on your list of worlds.
How to delete a world in Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta
- Launch Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta from your Start menu, desktop, or taskbar.
- Click Play.
Click the Edit button next to the world you want to delete. The button looks like a pencil writing two lines.
- Click Delete in the upper right corner.
Click Delete to confirm.
