Jack N' Jill is a simple, yet challenging platformer game that is available for both Windows 10 PC and Mobile where you have to help Jack navigate across a host of platforms to find Jill.
The Windows 10 game has a retro feel, reminiscent of the old grayscale games you would find available for the older Game Boy consoles. Jack N' Jill includes 140 levels that are spread across seven worlds. While Jack N' Jill is not an overly complicated game, it has its fair share of challenges.
In a nutshell, if you like the retro style of games or just looking for a simple game to pass the time with Jack N' Jill is worth checking out.
Jack N' Jill greets you with a modest main menu that has options to start gameplay, mute the sound, share the game and remove the ad support. I'm not sure the cost of removing the ads because the IAP feature was not active while testing the game.
Gameplay is spread out across seven worlds and involves 140 levels. The first few levels are tutorial in nature and walks you through the basics nicely. Each level will separate Jill from Jack and the goal is to guide Jack across the level to reunite with Jill.
To start the game, tap the screen to get Jack running. His forward motion is automatic and you tap the screen to have him jump. The Windows 10 PC version of Jack N' Jill can be controlled by tapping on the touchscreen (when present) or from the keyboard or mouse. Tap the spacebar or the right mouse button to start the game or have Jack jump.
If Jack hits a dead end or wall, he will reverse course. Some levels take place on a single platform level while others have multiple levels to climb. You will even find some with chimney climb challenges (climb upwards by bouncing off walls).
Each level will have gaps to jump across and there are additional dangers that come into play as you advance through the game. These dangers include spikes, thorny rocks and various creatures to avoid. You will often need to time your jumps to leave just enough room to land and jump again to avoid dangers.
There are coins scattered across each platform that can be collected. While there isn't a feature available to let you spend these coins, it opens the door to a gaming store where you can buy power-ups or costumes for Jack and Jill with them.
Overall, the retro graphics look good and gives the game a classic mobile game feel. The layout of many of the gameslevels are maze-like that will not only challenge your skills at timing for jumps but also choosing the correct path to find Jill. Add the various pitfalls each level has and Jack N' Jill becomes a nicely challenging title for your Windows 10 gaming library.
