Game Troopers is building up an impressive collection of Windows Phone games that includes the likes of Tiny Troopers and Overkill 3. Their puzzle/trivia game What In The World? is a lot more laid back than their action/adventure titles but still a great way to pass the time. You are tasked with identifying images of hundreds of celebrities, logos and characters.
The Windows Phone game is one of this month's AdDuplex HERO Apps, which is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex network. The campaign partners AdDuplex with myAppFree, AppDeals, PluralSight and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month.
Our role with the HERO Apps is to shine a spotlight on these Windows Phone and Windows titles and help promote the platform. We've taken a look at What In The World? before and have found it to be a solid gaming option for your Windows Phone.
The premise of What In The World? has you being presented with a broad assortment of drawings and it is your job to correctly identify the picture or object the image is associated with. For example, you may see a drawing of four interlinked, silver rings, which would be the logo for Audi or a drawing of the pyramids where you have to name the country or city.
The interface is simple and straightforward. You have the image center screen with the category the answer is associated with. Below the image is a collection of letters that you use to create the correct answer. Just tap on the letters to fill in the blanks to solve each puzzle.
There are four buttons that line the sides of the puzzle image. Two are hint buttons and the other two allow you to share the puzzle and launch Cortana to audibly solve the puzzle. The hints are limited with one revealing a correct letter in the answer and the other deleting an incorrect letter from the field.
What In The World? currently has 275 picture puzzles to solve that are spread across five, progressively unlocked levels. The categories of picture puzzles currently include TV/Movies, Celebrities, Brands, Countries/Cities and Characters.
While What In The World? is more of a casual gaming title for your Window Phone, it still is a fun and challenging way to pass the time. You may find yourself doing a Bing search to solve some of these puzzles (or in my case ask my kids for help).
If you have given What In The World? a try, let us know what you think of the game in the comments below. What In The World? is a free, ad-supported game with the option to remove the ads through a $.99 in-app purchase.
