16bit Trader

16bit Trader is a strategy based Windows Phone game that relies more on your skills at bartering than battling. You play the role of a medieval merchant traveling the lands in an effort to buy low and sell high.

Available for low-memory Windows Phones, the game has decent graphics and a casual pace. 16bit Trader is a game you can invest a little time with. 16bit Trader normally runs $1.99 but for the next twenty-four hours, you pick the game up free through the myAppFree Deal. There is a Windows 8 version of 16bit Trader but it is not part of the myAppFree deal this go around.

The back story with 16bit Trader sees your father being killed by an evil merchant and it is your goal in life to become the richest merchant in the kingdom, removing your dad's killer from power.

The game launches with a series of tutorials that will walk you through the basics of game play. 16bit Trader has dozens of towns and villages that you can travel to and visit the trader, bank and tavern. You can buy/sell goods, purchase or sell carts to increase your cargo load and hire help to not only move your goods but also protect them from bandits.

Traveling between villages will cost you a little gold and there is always the danger of being robbed by bandits. Along with the life of trading goods between villages, you can pick up an extra jobs or quests in the taverns.

In just playing the game for a short time today, it comes across as an entertaining, casual paced Windows Phone game. It takes a little time getting used to the game screen and I would have liked to have seen the save and quest buttons stand out a bit more. Overall, it looks like a fun game and while it is a universal app, unfortunately there isn't a way to synchronize saved games between devices. I could see the appeal of 16bit Trader jump by leaps and bounds if that feature came into play.

Typically, 16bit Trader runs $1.99 in the Windows Phone Store and over the next twenty-four hours, you can pick up 16bit Trader free, courtesy of the myAppFree Deal. The game is also available in the Windows Store ($1.99) but the myAppFree deal doesn't extend to the Windows Store this time.

If you try 16bit Trader, let us know what you think of the game in the comments below. Also, remember to rate the game in the Windows Phone Store. It is the easiest way to send a little feedback to the developer.
