Windows Central Roundup: Top Disney Windows Phone Games
Over the past few years, Disney has quietly built a nice collection of games in the Windows Phone Store. They stand out in part because of the popularity the main characters that inspire these games as well as the quality of the games themselves.
We sifted through the twenty some odd Disney games currently available in the Windows Phone Store and plucked half a dozen of the top rated titles to highlight in this week's roundup. All can be entertaining titles to have in your Windows Phone gaming library to help you pass the time and cure that video game itch.
Temple Run: Brave
Endless runner games can be an enjoyable way to pass the time and some will argue that they don't get much better than the Temple Run series of Windows Phone games. Disney has two Temple Run versions available in the Windows Phone Store - Temple Run Brave and Temple Run Oz. It wasn't easy choosing just one so we flipped a coin and tapped Brave for this week's roundup.
Both games are designed in the spirit of the movies they are named after ( Brave and Oz The Great and Powerful). Temple Run Brave features Merida and King Fergus running for their lives from the monster bear Mordu.
You turn, jump and dive along a Scottish path to avoid obstacles and dangers that will slow you down just enough for Mordu to catch you. Coins line the path that can be collected to unlock bonus items, power-ups and character costumes. To help give the game a little more flavor, you also have an archery feature that will test your target shooting skills as you run down the path.
The only downside to Temple Run: Brave, as is the case with many of the Disney titles, is the lack of a trial version. The game is rated at 4.5 Stars in the Windows Phone Store and while we think it is worth the $1.99 price tag, a trial version sure would be nice.
Where's My Perry?
Where's My Water?Where's My Mickey? and Where's My Perry? are all entertaining physics based puzzle games that are cut from the same cloth. As is the case with the Temple Run series, we pulled out our trusty Silver Dollar and tapped Where's My Perry? for the roundup.
The game has you using water in all its forms (liquid, steam and ice) to solve the puzzles and help Perry in his travels. You create paths for the water to follow that will eventually activate Perry's transport tube and send him on his way.
Where's My Perry? includes over 140 levels of play that span 7 chapters with additional levels available through in-app purchase.
Where's My Perry? also lacks a trial version with the title running $2.99 in the Windows Phone Store. If you are on the fence about committing to a three dollar game without trying it out first, Where's My Perry? pulls down a solid 4 Star rating in the Windows Phone Store. Additionally, you can get a feel for the physics based puzzles with Where's My Water 2? ( Store Link), which is a free Disney title and very similar to Where's My Perry?
Frozen Free Fall
Frozen Free Fall is a match three styled puzzle game from Disney that is inspired by the Disney animated film, Frozen. The game features movie characters such as Anna, Elsa, Hans, Olaf and more.
The game includes hundreds of frozen puzzle with plenty of power-ups and bonus items to help with your success. Game play has scoring goals that must be met in a certain number of moves or under time limits.
If the frozen tundra isn't your cup of tea, there are additional levels of play that are based on the summer months that can be purchased through a $1.99 or by completing all 285 levels in the winter theme.
If the Frozen characters aren't your cup of tea, Disney also offers a similarly styled game that is based on the Disney Movie Maleficent that is aptly titled, Maleficent Free Fall. The game is very similar to Frozen Free Fall but with a slightly darker theme.
Big Hero 6 Bot Fight
Big Hero 6 Bot Fight is one of the more recent additions to the Disney Windows Phone game collection that is inspired by the movie Big Hero 6. The game combines match 3 game play with bot battles.
As you complete the match 3 puzzles, your robots gain attack strengths and defensive moves as you battle a collection of enemy V.I.L.E. infected robots. The bigger the combos, the more impact your attacks have against your opponent.
You have over one hundred robots to collect, level up and evolve with plenty of battle opportunities.
Big Hero 6 Bot Fight is also available for Windows 8 devices for those who prefer to battle on the big screen. The game pulls down a 4.5 Star rating in the Windows Phone Store, which is spot on for Big Hero 6 Bot Fight.

Star Wars: Commander
The Star Wars franchise always has a strong following and Disney has tapped into this popularity with a handful of Star Wars themed Windows Phone games. Star Wars: Tiny Death Star is a popular time management game and Star Wars: Assault Team is an entertaining action/adventure game. For this roundup, we are tapping Star Wars: Commander (yep… another flip of the coin).
Star Wars: Commander is a strategy game where you get to choose your side - the Empire or Rebel Alliance. From there you build and defend a base of operations, take part in epic battles, travel to various planets on secret missions and upgrade your armies and defenses along the way.
As well as being available for low-memory devices, Star Wars: Commander is also available for Windows 8 devices. With over 5.000 reviews, Star Wars: Commander pulls down a 4.5 Star rating in the Windows Phone Store and is a fun, time consuming title for your Windows Phone library.

Disney Bola Soccer
While I'm more of an American football fan (War Eagle), Disney offers up a pretty decent sports title with Disney Bola Soccer. Sure… it is soccer but I can see Bola Soccer appealing to a wide range of soccer aficionados as well as those who simply enjoy sports games.
The game includes quick games for when your time is limited and tournaments when you have more time to spend with the game. Gaming controls are simple and covered with a series of swipes and tap gestures.
As you progress through the game, you can move up the ladder with sponsorships that will open up more challenging tournaments. Gaming experience will improve player performance and you can compete against other gamer's teams to see who's top dog.
If you prefer gaming from a larger screen, Disney Bola Soccer is also available for Windows 8 devices. The game is rated at 3.5 Stars in both the Windows and Windows Phone Store with slow load times, difficult controls and lagginess often being cited as issues. Disney Bola Soccer is a free game in the Windows Phone Store so it might be worth trying to see if your experiences differ.

There are plenty more Disney titles available in the Windows Phone Store. Many share the same gaming style but feature different Disney characters. Each are worth trying (given that a trial version is available) and can be fun games to pass the time with.
