Earlier this week, Microsoft unleashed a trailer for the upcoming Halo 2 remake documentary "Remaking the Legend: Halo 2 Anniversary." The documentary will reveal the tremendous work that went into recreating the classic original Xbox game Halo 2 on the new Xbox One console. Some of the most interesting things about Halo in general are its art, technology, and character designs, and we should get plenty of glimpses of those things in the documentary.

Today a new trailer for the documentary has emerged. Besides showing more cool documentary scenes, it also reveals the official release date for "Remaking the Legend: Halo 2 Anniversary." Mark October 31 on your calendar, because the documentary will premiere then on Xbox One and 360. Less than two weeks after that, Halo: the Master Chief Collection and its Halo 2 remake will officially launch on Xbox One. Read on for the new trailer and more details!

Halo: the Master Chief Collection

The 'Remaking the Legend' documentary delves into the centerpiece of Halo: the Master Chief Collection, the fully-revamped Halo 2. Players will be able to revisit that game's memorable campaign and toggled between completely redone HD graphics or the original graphics.

The Master Chief Collection also includes Halo 1, 3, and 4, albeit with much less graphical enhancement. All four games will support online co-op. Not to mention Master Chief Collection's online competitive multiplayer, which features every multiplayer map from Halo 1-4.That's over 100 maps in total!

Since Halo 2, the Halo series has always offered excellent matchmaking, and The Master Chief Collection will be no different. Some playlists will mix and match maps from multiple games, while others will focus on specific games (such as all Halo 1 maps).

One point of controversy regarding the Master Chief Collection has been its huge "Day one" patch. The retail release contains only the campaigns for all four games. To experience online multiplayer, users will need to download a 20 GB patch that will be available at launch. Gamers who preorder the downloadable version of the game will receive the patch before launch day. If you choose to go retail, you'll still be able to play the campaigns before the patch downloads.
